Chapter 13: Getting through the Day

___________________________

It was six o'clock in the morning.  I couldn't sleep at all last night I was so excited.  I had to get through the school day first, in order to get to the part I was waiting for.  I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do about Sunset Shimmer.

I was thinking about possibly making amends with Sunset.  There was no way I could take back saying I was a Siren though.  Again, I don't care that I admitted that.  I have a new idea.

I was still in my pajamas.  We didn't have to leave to head to school for a good two more hours or so.  After school was the, whatever they're calling it, the party for the Battle of The Bands.

I took off my pajamas and put on my clothes I usually wear.

It was then I remembered that I needed to fix my bed head.  Amazing hair comes with insane bed head.

I got out my hair brush and brushed my hair.  Oh, and I didn't even need to tease it to get the gorgeous, full look it has.  It's all natural.

After finishing my hair, I moved to my make up.  A very simple process really.  All I had to do was apply my eyeshadow.  The eyeshadow was a pretty yellow; it was a rather flat yellow but the color complimented me well.

Now that I was ready, I needed to wake up the girls.

I walked into to Aria's room.  "Hey, sleepyhead, wake up!  It's morning!" I said, ripping the covers off of Aria's bed.

She let out a small groan.  "Mm...  No ma, just... five more.... minutes..." she said, half-asleep.

She woke up and got out of bed.  "Oh, g'morning, Adagio," she yawned.

  "Morning," I said.

"You're up bright and early," Aria said.

"I've just been too excited," I said.

"Yeah.  So long as we get that Equestrian magic we'll get to go back to Equestria really soon," Aria said.

   "Exactly," I said.

"Can you wake up The Worst instead of me?  I'd do it but I don't wanna deal with her yet," Aria said.

"I was planning on doing that," I said.

I walked out of Aria's room, across the hall to Sonata's room.

"No... But here in Sonata-land the tacos are endless.  I will stop you, Kung-fu Pizza Man," she said in her sleep.  "You'll never take my tacos!"

I poked Sonata in order to wake her up.

She jumped out of bed.  "Take that you Kung-fu Pizza Man!" she exclaimed, trying to karate chop me.

"Oh, it's just you, Dagi.  I thought you were the Kung-fu Pizza Man trying to steal my tacos," she said, sitting back on the bed.

I rolled my eyes.  "Just go get ready, would you?" I said.

She got out of bed wearing bold pink pajamas with tacos printed all over them.  She's weird sometimes but she's much more approachable and down to Earth than that Pinkie Pie I've heard about.

It took the girls a little bit longer than me to get ready.  They still had to put their hair up in pigtails (Aria) and a ponytail (Sonata).  They met me in the living room, finally ready, and we left.

Once we were at school, we split off to our separate classes.  Right on schedule Sunset ran up to me wanting to know if we could walk to class together.

"Hey, I'm sorry about yesterday," she said after I agreed to walk with her.  "I didn't mean to imply anything.  I was just thinking out loud."

"Oh, it's fine.  I shouldn't have lashed out like that," I said.

"So, are we– are we still friends?" Sunset asked.

"Yes.  No hard feelings," I said.  Sunset had an overjoyed look on her face.

"Thank goodness," she said, "I thought I'd lost a friend."

You wouldn't have either way because we never were friends, I thought.

"So, yesterday you said you were a Siren, but the other day you said you were a Unicorn; so which one are you?" Sunset said.

It seemed I'd have to tell the truth.  "Both," I answered, "I'm half-pony and half-Siren."

"That's so cool!  I had no idea that was possible," Sunset said.

I was shocked that she didn't immediately turn on me.

"It's a very rare occurrence since under normal circumstances ponies and Sirens are usually enemies," I said.

"Oh.  That does make sense," Sunset said.  "I'd heard something a long time ago about three ponies who were half Siren.  Those three ponies, would they be you, Aria, and Sonata?"

    "Yes," I said.

"That's really cool," Sunset said.  "What's it like being a Siren?"

"Just imagine being a pony but living underwater," I said.

"That'd be so cool!  It sounds like you get the best of both land and sea," Sunset said.

I never did think about it that way.

      "So, anyways," I said.

"I guess our first class is mythology, it being a half day and all because of the kickoff party," Sunset said.

"I wonder what mythology is going to be about.  So far it's only been 'report the progress on your project then do whatever'.  Not that I mind," I said.

"Yeah.  It's actually kind of nice getting to take at least one class easy this week because of the musical showcase," Sunset said.

We walked into Cheerilee's mythology class.  "Good morning, you two!  You got here early," she said.  "I've been meaning to tell you excellent job on your project so far!  I love your little drawings.  What interesting interpretations of Sirens."

"Thanks!" Sunset and I said at the same time.

We took a seat next to each other.

An obnoxious blue and white haired girl burst into the room.

"The Great and Powerful Trixie has arrived!" she announced.

I rolled my eyes.  Sunset had an annoyed look on her face as well.

"Trixie has a very important announcement to make," Trixie said.

Even Cheerilee rolled her eyes at that one.  "Trixie is going to win Battle of The Bands!" Trixie said.  "But, of course, it's not like there's any competition anyways," she remarked.

I glanced over at Sunset who heaved an annoyed sigh.

"Hey, Adagio," she began in a whisper.  "You know I'm not very aggressive or competitive, but can you do me a favor?"

     What was she getting at?

     "What is it?" I said.

"During the showcase, since it's a competition, will you please take that opportunity to put Trixie in her place for me?" Sunset said.  "She thinks she's so much better than everyone else and it gets on my nerves."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing.  But there was no need to ask because I would have done so anyways.

"You can count on me," I said with a nod.

"Thanks.  She needs someone to put her in her place and who better to do it than the Dazzlings?" Sunset said.

"Thanks.  But what about… your friends?" I said, purposely asking such a question just to make Sunset uncomfortable.  "They'll probably be too busy fussing over frivolous matters and trying to win," she sighed.  "But you all are more motivated and driven; you don't seem to lose sight of what matters to you."

"Well, thank you.  You can count on the Dazzlings to show up Trixie," I said.

It was true; if anyone dared to go up against us they would look pathetic compared to us.

"You're welcome," Sunset said.  "But just to warn you: Trixie is pretty good.  I don't doubt that you can defeat her, though."

"No worries.  We'll make sure she doesn't win," I said.

The rest of the class was heading in.  A girl who had indigo hair with purple and pink streaks running down the center who I'd never seen before walked into the classroom after all the rest, looking less than confident.  She took a seat at the back of the class room.

"Excuse me for a second," Sunset said.

      "Uh huh," I said flatly.

She got up and walked to the back of the room.  Probably going to talk to that one girl.  I played around with my pencil.  Sunset was taking a while so in my boredom I began drumming on the desk with my pencil.

Cheerilee clapped her hands to get the class' attention.  "Everyone please take a seat," she said.

That wasn't directed at Sunset Shimmer singularly; just about the entire class was standing up.  Sunset walked back to her seat with a defeated look.

"Something wrong?" I asked.  "Nothing.  I'm fine," Sunset said with a sigh.  "If you say so," I said.

So, Cheerilee blabbered on and on about how she expects everyone to continue to do their best on their projects despite Battle of the Bands starting tomorrow.  But things got interesting when Trixie interrupted and claimed her band was the best band at Canterlot High.  The entire class broke out into a fight, all claiming that they were the best band.

Of course, I gained power in the process but then had to come up with a cover up as to why the negative energy entered into my pendant.

Sunset kept looking at me with concern.  I could not wait for the day to be over for one more reason now.  If Sunset even tries to stand in my way, she'll be shown no mercy.

Finally, it was the end of the school day.  The girls and I headed toward the gym where the whatever for Battle of The Bands was being held.  For some reason, Sunset didn't seem to want to tag along with us, which I don't mind at all.  She probably went to hang out with her so called "friends" and help them out.
We walked in and everyone else seemed to already be there.  We walked over closer to the bleachers.  We only stayed there for a few seconds, however, before Sonata dragged us off to the table where the fruit punch was.
"C'mon you have to try it!" she said.
"Sonata, I don't want to try your fruit punch," I said.
    "I'll try it," Aria volunteered.
"You just want try it so you can insult Sonata," I said, rolling my eyes.

A Dazzling Tale ~ Chapter: 12    It was about 5:30 p.m. and Sunset and I were on our way to the spot we like to go to  when we work on our project.
"Whoa!  Adagio, slow down!  We still need to get the supplies from my place," Sunset said.
"Oh," I said, releasing my grip on Sunset Shimmer.  "Then let's go to your place," I said.
    "Alright, let's go," Sunset said.
We walked to Sunset's place and it was a somewhat enjoyable walk.  She seemed in an incredibly happy mood; just about skipping along.
"Well, aren't you happy?" I remarked.
"Yeah.  This is the first time I've ever had a friend who totally understands me!" Sunset said happily.  "In fact, I've even compiled a list of things you, me, Aria, and Sonata can do when we go back to Equestria together."
"Go back to Equestria?" I said w

A Dazzling Tale Prologue

Author's Note: This is the first installation of my Dazzlings headcanon/theory series.  In my headcanon they are half-Siren and half-pony.  DO NOT CORRECT ME!!!!  DO NOT TELL ME THEY ARE JUST REGULAR SIRENS; WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN THEORIES AND HEADCANONS! And, also yes, I know the indents are incorrect, but I like it.  This is narrated by Adagio Dazzle and it comes from her perspective.

I led my friends Sonata Dusk and Aria Blaze around the corridor; the guards were on our heels (or tail, or whatever) and we were running out of places to run.  It was as if the dungeon was an endless maze.  We were desperately trying to find a way to escape.
"Hold it right there!" a guard said, cutting us off.
 Startled, I gasped.
"Never!" I snarled, teleporting myself (I'm a Unicorn) and my friends farther down the corridor.
